A Recipe for Homity Pie

This is a relatively cheap meal, very warming and filling in Winter.

This recipe is from The New Cranks Recipe Book by Nadine Abensur.

If you want to you can make a short crust pastry and bake
the filling in this as if you were making a quiche.

Ingredients

2lbs potatoes
2oz butter
8fl oz sour cream
1fl oz sunflower oil
1 clove garlic
4oz peas
4oz chopped onion
3oz grated cheese
Seasoning

Method

Preheat the oven to 190◦C. Peel the potatoes and place them in a pan of cold water. Bring to the boil and cook for 30 minutes until the potatoes are soft. Drain and add the butter, cream and oil, garlic and seasoning. Mash thoroughly.

Meanwhile boil the peas for 3 or 4 minutes and drain. Add peas and chopped onion to the potato mixture. Mix well and place in an ovenproof dish (lined with pastry if you prefer). Top with grated cheese and bake for 25 – 30 minutes until golden brown. Great served with salad.
